Chengetedza Preserve Collectives was founded in 2017 by Moline Katiyo-Mayhew, a practicing fashion designer, visual artist, and artisan. With over 25 years of professional experience in international organisations and creative industries, she brings a hands-on approach to mentoring and training in visual arts, fashion, and handcrafts.
Moline is also the founder and director of the fashion label HB Designs, launched at Gallery Delta in 2010. She previously served on the Board of the Goethe Zentrum Harare/Germany Society and is an alumna of U.S. Department of State initiatives such as the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) and the African Women Entrepreneurship Cooperative (AWEC).
As an artist, she is passionate about identifying talent, collaborating with fellow creatives, and mentoring youth and women to develop their skills. Her work emphasises artistry, storytelling, and empowerment through fashion and crafts.
Chengetedza Preserve Collectives has collaborated with international partners including Goethe Zentrum Harare/Germany Society, the European Union Creative Actions and Culture Fund, and The Pollination Project (US). These collaborations have supported exhibitions, digital fashion shows, and handcraft showcases such as “Our Handcrafts on the Catwalk.”
Through these partnerships, the collective connects Zimbabwean artisans, designers, and handcrafters with global ideas on ethical and sustainable fashion. Germany’s leadership in green innovation, for example, has provided valuable lessons for Zimbabwe’s creative industries.
