Moline Katiyo-Mayhew is the Founder of Chengetedza, which was established in 2017. She has more than 15 years work experience in the United Nations and International Organisations. She is a Grants Advisor, Skills Development Consultant and trainer in the area of visual arts, Fashion and handcrafts. She is also a Humanitarian worker, Fashion Designer, visual artist and fitness enthusiast. She is the founder and Director of a fashion label HB Designs launched at Gallery Delta in 2010.
She is a Board member of the Goethe Zentrum Harare/Germany Society. She is also an Alumni of the USA Embassy under the U.S. Department of State – Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) and an alumni of another US led Programme; African Women Entrepreneurship Cooperative (AWEC).
As a practicing designer/artist she brings a hands on approach into the trainings with the assistance of other qualified artisans. Her passion is to identify talent, mentor and work with youth and women to support and uplift them.
She has experience in organising and coordinating events and as a panelist on various projects and competitions. Having worked in International Organisations in various roles, she came into close interaction with disadvantaged youth and women in rural communities, hence her understanding of their plight and the need to create self-employment in these communities.
Chengetedza has partnered with the following International Organisations: Goethe Zentrum Harare/Germany Society, the Pollination Project an American non profit Organisation, European Union, Creative Actions and Culture Fund.
In 2017 the Goethe Zentrum Harare/Germany Society who play a pivotal role in the promotion of the arts and crafts industry in Zimbabwe has partnered with Chengetedza since 2017.
We felt that Germany’s experiences can provide useful lessons for Zimbabwe’s ethical/sustainable fashion/handcraft industry because of its policies which have successfully encouraged green innovation. Hence Germany is considered to be Europe’s green leader.
European Union, Creative Actions and Culture Fund funded Chengetedza’s National Fashion and Handcrafts digital show under its Creative Actions grant themed our Handcrafts on the Catwalk.
The Pollination Project (US) supported its projects in 2020.
As a USA- Zimbabwe Exchange Alumni the founder of Chengetedza has showcased at US led initiatives.
